Impatience has its roots in frustration. It's a feeling of rising stress that starts when you feel that your needs and wishes are being ignored. In a modern environment where we're accustomed to instant communication and immediate access to data, it's a growing problem. But recognizing the warning signs can help you to prevent impatience from taking hold.
Why do we feel impatient?
The First Wheel – The first invention of human history to reach somewhere faster developed a habit of doing things faster.
Our Habit – We get impatient when something doesn’t go according to our habit.
Time, when things are important – We get impatient when time and priority involve in a task.
The success of another person – We get impatient when another person is doing better than us.
Burden – When we want to complete all of those tasks in less time.
Attitude & winning Factor – When we don’t want to listen to another person.
Low resisting power – Impatience causes when we try to avoid things we do regularly.
No results – When we don’t see results in our work or something, we’re putting time in.
Short-length content – We feel impatience due to our low attention span.
Reality – We feel impatient when we don’t accept reality because it hurts our feeling or beliefs.
How can we overcome it?
Take deep, slow breaths, and count to 10. Doing this will slow your heart rate, relax your body, and distance you emotionally from the situation. Sometimes you might need a longer count, or to repeat the process several times.
Impatience can cause you to tense your muscles involuntarily. So, consciously focus on relaxing your body. Again, take slow, deep breaths. Relax your muscles, from your toes up to the top of your head.
Force yourself to slow down. Make yourself speak and move more slowly. It will appear to others as if you're calm – and the acting patient often makes you feel more patient.
